Did You Know...

...That the fortune cookies in China contributed to the emergence of the Ming dynasty? In the 13th and 14th centuries China was occupied by the Mongols. Among the Chinese, it was a tradition to bake for the so-called Mid-Autumn Festival moon cakes, which due to the weird taste, were not touched by the Mongols. The idea then came about to send revolutionary messages through the whole country and so the oppressed people came to victory. The traditon of hiding messages in pastry was preserved, only the warlike content has been replaced with small pearls of wisdom and good wishes!
