… that snakes are worshipped and seen as holy alongside cows? Hindus avoid killing even dangerous poisonous snakes because of their belief that this will cause bad karma. In India, the snake relates to water, rain and fertility. There is a snake temple in Kerala where childless couples plead for a blessing from the fertile snake. Furthermore the snake symbolises the soul of the dead ancestors in various regions.
