Activities in Sydney
The jewel to explore by foot
The Olympic Games at the beginning of the millennium united the city and the natural beauty of Sydney led people to call it a cosmopolitan, cultural and guest friendly city.
The nice thing about Sydney is that it was made for walking. The part that makes up the central part of the city is actually only 26 square kilometres. Leave the pumps behind and pack the walking shoes: there is so much to discover!
Opera House
Everyone knows Sydney’s Opera House. Along with the Harbour Bridge, it is one of the city landmarks and one of the most frequently photographed sights. But did you also know that during the end of construction the muscle and sail shaped building was financed by a lottery?
Harbour Bridge
The first view of the city can come from the Harbour Bridge that was built in the 1930’s. For a small fee you can climb up one of the bridge pillars. The breath taking view of the city and maybe also the most glorious natural harbour in the world are well worth the climb up.
Sydney Tower
The tower offers a view of one of the prettiest cities in the world from 305 meters in the air. With clear weather one can see the Blue Mountains from here.
Harbour Tour-Circular Bay
A Harbour Tour is also highly recommended. You can go to Circular Quay, which is in the middle of the central ferry stops. You can find more than just ferries here though; loads of colourful cafes and street art galleries await you.
The Rocks
There are wonderful streets to stroll on through the oldest city quarter are in “The Rocks” Centrally located and affectionately restored, one can find restaurants, theatres, bars, and jovial pubs here.
Shopping Possibilities
The shopping possibilities in Sydney are terrific. There are many possibilities after the total renovation of the Victoria Building in 1986. A visit to the markets in Paddington, The Rocks and Chinatown are also trips you should not miss out on.
