Interesting Cities
Both nearby cities, Montreal and Ottawa, are worth a visit:
Montreal
Montreal, the second biggest city in Canada with about 3.7 million residents, is situated in eastern Canada along the Saint Lawrence River. The city finds itself 450 kilometers from the Atlantic and the Port de Montréal is an important harbour for almost all ships on the way out to the Atlantic. |
Montreal was named after Mont Royal in the center of the city on the Ile de Montréal. The distinctive cityscape offers a fantastic perspective of the skyline of the inner city.
Popular free time activities are enjoying the view from Chalet du Mont and the secluded forest regions with quiet hiking and biking trails.
There are many worthwhile sites to see adjacent to the shopping streets in the quarter Plateau Mont Royal. The abundant streets of houses with the classic Montrealer staircases and the boutiques are good sites to take in.
Montreal and the surrounding area are well known for the Indian Summer when there will be warm and sunny fall days with overnight frosts.
Ottawa
Ottawa was established in 1827 in the eastern part of the province of Ontario on the Ottawa River. It is in the region of the only official two language city.

During the Tulip Parade there is an annual boat parade on the Rideau Canal which ends in the Ottawa River. In the winter months the canal is the longest ice skating path in the world (about 8 km).
There are also important things to see in the government quarter. The buildings here were constructed following some of the same plan designs that were used in London and also the Canadian War Museum.
Special for inline skaters is the almost 170 kilometer paved way inside of Ottawa. It goes undisturbed through motorized areas and through the surrounding area so one can enjoy the routes.
